The afternoon kicks off at 3.30pm when the Bega Chicks throw down the gauntlet to hosts the She-Devils in a game that will be played with finals intensity.
Both teams recorded impressive first round victories and Chicks coach Ray Ringland has his team primed for a big game.
The Narooma attack builds off Jamie-Ann Wright’s back and she has a good kicking game.
In its game against Cooma, Lily Bennett scored six tries and has speed to burn and with Tegan Mundy’s experience and young Parsons to add to their attack, it will come down to the Bega girls defending well for the full contest.
Ringland’s side appeared well balanced and he knows his wingers and fullback will be up for a busy day.
Olivia Dummett played well in this position last outing in place of the injured Madison Parbery.
Fiona Holmes will lead his forwards from the front and Alli Ringland continues to grow in her dummy half role.
Meanwhile, after a season off, Hayley Jessop is working her way back to her best.
In reserve grade, Wayne Northey’s side got its season underway with a strong win, but face off against a Narooma side that lost narrowly to Cooma and is keen to turn it around.
Owen Blacker and Jack McDonald were strong contributors and Luke Aldridge was solid at lock.
Northey’s halves pairing of Allan Aldridge and Clay Child are cool under pressure, and with Dennis Scott back to his best the Roosters will be looking to post another away win.
The headline clash sees Kane Morgan’s first grade Roosters kick off at 6pm against a revamped Narooma team, which is strongly tipped to be a finals candidate this season.
Morgan will look to his team building on game structure and defence, particularly in the back end of the game.
He said the Devils have a strong back row with good kicking games, and with centre Gene Willis and two very fast flankers, the Devils will prove a tough nut to crack.
To counter, the Roosters coach game plan will centre on shutting down the dangermen and looking at his side’s discipline in completion rates and a relentless defence.
Morgan is aware Narooma will play an upbeat game and will try and run Bega ragged.
“If we don’t put them on the deck then we will do so at our own peril,” he said.
“This game will be a test to see where we are at as Narooma is a stronger side this season and if our pack do their job and win the ruck we can come away with two points and that’s our focus.
“We leaked points late in our opening game so we need to be on song for the full 80 minutes.”
