The new library will service people from the Tura, Merimbula and Pambula areas, however it will be open to all residents and visitors.

Amenities at the new library include books, audiobooks, DVDs, newspapers, magazines, e-collections, computers, free WiFi, kid’s and youth zones, study spaces and activities including technology and digital media training, Storytime, Rhyme Time and school holiday programs.

There will also be meeting rooms with kitchen facilities available for hire.

Council’s Community & Cultural Manager, Simon Schweitzer, said names reflect who we are, what we do and who we connect with.

“Names can be powerful when they acknowledge our past and honour our heritage,” he said.

“That’s why we want to make sure the name chosen for the new library and community facility is right.

“The name must contain the words ‘community’ and ‘library,’ but how they are strung together is where we are seeking community input.

“We want to get it right and we’d like the community’s help to come up with a name that describes the facility and its services,” Mr Schweitzer said.

Council are encouraging everyone, including children, to share their ideas in naming the new facility.

Alternatively, find us on Facebook and leave a comment or send us a message. A suggestion box will also be available at all librariesin the Shire for you to submit your idea.
