Missing link
Our family have been regular visitors to Merimbula for annual holidays over the last eight years.
I believe there is a wonderful opportunity to complete the missing link around this beautiful seaside town.
I am suggesting a boardwalk be constructed from the existing Rotary Park next to Spencer Park, along and next to Lake Street, to Bar Beach - which we think is one of the jewels in the crown of Merimbula tourism.
What's the rationale?
Well hundreds of pedestrians, families and holiday makers walk next to the road on Lake Street to and from Bar Beach - there is no footpath, and it is dangerous given the closeness of moving vehicles - so there is a good safety reason to protect locals and visitors.
Secondly disabled and aged persons in the local community and those that visit, have no means to make it to and from Bar Beach - why should they be disadvantaged and denied an opportunity to get outside and experience this wonderful walk?
Like the Byron Bay Boardwalk to the Lighthouse in northern NSW, this new Bar Beach Boardwalk would become a tourism icon for Merimbula in the future.
Stage 2 of the project could be to extend the Boardwalk from Bar Beach all the way along to the historic Wharf - structurally this would be more demanding, but the views from that vantage point are breathtaking.
The construction of the Bar Beach Boardwalk would complete the missing link around Merimbula, and would compliment the existing boardwalk around the Lake.
I believe it would greatly enhance the attraction of Merimbula as a seaside tourist town, and would be a worthwhile addition for locals, visitors and the disabled community - and in time, would become one of the standout walks along the whole NSW coastline.
I am hoping the Merimbula community can come together and make the Bar Beach Boardwalk a reality.

Thanks for your time
This letter is to thank both Ian Campbell and Tim Holt of ABC South East Radio – both close friends of Clean Energy for Eternity – for their tremendous support since 2006.
As ABC manager Ian has never hesitated to make airtime available to CEFE representatives in his programs when timely announcements, often on very short notice, and controversial commentary were called for, and has always been interested in our work and achievements in South East NSW.
Tim has also been a great friend to CEFE, both through many interviews by asking the hard questions and as moderator of more than one lively CEFE forum.
We wish you both every success in your new endeavours and look forward to seeing you out and about as always.
