It is a timely completion as the annual community Christmas lunch will once again be held at Twyford Hall with all members of the public welcome.
The work was made possible with the help of $50,000 funding provided under the NSW government’s Community Building Partnership program.
When the funding was announced, chair of the Twyford Hall committee, and long-term advocate of the hall’s development plans, Bill Deveril said the committee was thrilled.
“We have been applying for a grant for the last three years and have finally got it. We have to put $40,000 to it but it will make it a really good kitchen which will service Twyford Hall and the new theatre when its built.”
The conversion of the 70s style kitchen to a state of the art facility will serve both Twyford Hall and the proposed Theatre Twyford adjacent to the existing hall.
Bega Valley Shire Council contributed 50 per cent of the electrical work cost which amounted to $13,233.
At the official opening of the kitchen, Mr Shea thanked Mr Constance for his help in getting the funding and also praised the hard work of the committee members.
“Your advocacy and championing of the cause has brought everyone together,” Mr Constance said of Mr Shea.
The opportunity was not lost on Mr Shea to present Mr Constance with a copy of the recently prepared Cost Benefit Analysis for the upgrade of Twyford Hall to include a raked theatre.
In an encouraging note, Mr Constance said that he wanted to see more money go into the arts and regional culture.
Mr Shea said that cost benefit analysis was very positive and found a benefit to cost ratio of 1:3 could be expected in building the proposed Theatre Twyford.
“That is for every dollar spent in establishing the Theatre a benefit of one dollar thirty accrues to the region and is a very healthy ratio by cost benefit standards,” Mr Shea said.
Representatives of the Bendigo Bank, Pambula also attended and presented a cheque for $3714.70 to the Twyford Hall committee.
