It was the lower order that put on most of the runs for the Pambula Bluedogs as the openers were dismissed cheaply by the pace bowling of Eden captain Reece Wheeler.
Dylan Cook was done in for a duck off an lbw for Wheeler to claim his first, while Joe Maloney was returned to the sheds after a clean bowl for a duck.
Tom Hammond put on a dozen runs before he was also sent from the field lbw by Wheeler.
At 3/15 things looked dire for the Bluedogs, but the club switched up its tactics and began to put solid runs on the board.
The next wicket didn’t fall until the team passed 75.
Toby Keath was caught by Tim Bowes, but had added a commendable 29 runs to the tally, while Jake Taylor was dismissed just after on 31 runs.
Kieran Allan scored a rock solid innings of 40 runs and was unbeaten, but overs and wickets began to wear thin.
Bryden Unicomb chimed in with 11 runs, but was then declared lbw off the bowling of Bowes.
Kye Lygon stepped up to the crease and knocked 10 for the home team to round up a solid total at the end of its 40 overs.
The Bluedogs had lost seven wickets, but rested on a solid 157 runs with Eden’s innings to follow.
Wheeler had done the most damage with the ball in hand to claim four wickets.
Isaac Walker secured two as the Bluedogs held out for the complete innings.
The southerners took to the crease and began the target chase well after an early wicket.
Opener Drew Mudaliar was done in for a duck, but the visitors were nearing 100 runs before the next wicket fell.
The combination of Andrew Evelyn and Wheeler quickly put plenty of runs on the board.
Evelyn was in the mid 40s, while Wheeler scored beyond a half-century on 55 to put the Eden team back on track of chasing down the total.
After Evelyn was caught, young prospect Patrick Kearney joined Wheeler at the crease and knocked 29 runs.
Wheeler was finally dismissed off the bowling of Lewis Hopkins, but the visiting Eden side was then just short of the target.
With kearney building to a good innings, he was joined at the crease by Bowes, who scored a dozen runs to finish off the afternoon.
There was just five overs remaining in the day when the Eden squad surpassed the total.
The Bluedogs are sitting in fifth on the competition ladder and will play the South Eurobodalla Pirates on the weekend with just three rounds remaining in the one-day season.
Play is scheduled for to start on Saturday from 1pm at the Dalmeny Oval.
