The youth camp is the vision of Pastor Ossie Cruse dating back to 1970. The aim of the camp is to provide young people with a place to learn various life skills and have fun in a bush setting on the edge of Pambula Lake.
This is a major project of which much work has been done, but there is still much to do.
Work had recently stopped as money was needed to buy more timber for the boardwalk. Merimbula Rotary was so impressed by the work so far, the Club voted to support this project, and President Bill Dejong was delighted to present Mr Gibson with a cheque for $2,000.
Merimbula Rotary is keen to provide further support for the youth camp and is working closely with Mr Gibson to develop discrete project elements which will help to turn the vision into reality.
Alan Gibson, from the Jigamy Youth Camp Project was the guest speaker at the Rotary Club of Merimbula meeting last week. Alan spoke about the history, vision and recent work undertaken to build a youth camp at Jigamy Farm north of Eden.
