Good Samaritan
Last Saturday while picking up my "old parents" from the retirement village in Tura Beach in order to take them out for our usual Saturday lunch, I placed my bag (holding my purse) on the back of the car, while disposing of their recyclable rubbish and then inadvertently drove off.

Imagine my horror to find that my bag, holding not just cash, but vulnerable credit cards and all other cards necessary for life in this age was missing.
I was in despair. Leaving my old folks to their lunch, I drove back to the retirement village, drove up and down Tura Beach Road twice and went to the police station where they were very kind and took all my details.
Perhaps only those who have experienced this sick feeling can understand. It’s not the loss of cash, but the numerous cards that need to be cancelled and replaced.
So imagine my relief to arrive home and find my bag with purse complete, hanging on my screen door. It was like all my Christmases had come at once.
There was a brief note from Ron, my good Samaritan, saying that he had found my bag in the middle of Tura Beach Road.
You didn't leave a contact Ron and this is my only way to send my heartfelt thanks. You have the qualities we would all wish in the human race.

Rough ride
I am a concerned person who has lived at Towamba for over 20 years now.
It has never failed to amaze me how the council has such little regard for the welfare of the drivers of this valley as well as two school buses and the children.
As well, they call it a tourist drive. What a laugh! It’s more like a horse track.
Our road has potholes you can nearly lose your wheels in – this has been an ongoing thing every year. When it’s wet we have to deal with this dangerous road.
The grader come out and fills the holes with dirt that only lasts for a small period of time.
Don’t you think with all the money getting wasted for the rough job on the road it would be better spent tarring it?
It won’t be long and there will be a major accident and someone will get hurt badly, or worse.
We pay our rates every year and we get this!

Water fluoridation
Good oral hygiene starts at home with tooth brushing and avoiding artificial sugars.
Here is what nutritionist Alexandra Middleton had to say about the subject:
“The fluoride added to tap water in this country is a far cry from the calcium fluoride needed to protect our teeth.
“Australia has one of the most fluoridated water supplies in the world, with 80 per cent of the population drinking fluoridated water daily. Only 25 countries around the world have water fluoridation programs, eleven of these countries have less than 20 per cent of their population consuming fluoridated water.
“Australian tap water does not contain the calcium fluoride shown by science to strengthen and protect teeth. Instead, dodium-silicofluoride or hydroflurosilicic acid is added to your tap water.
“These unrefined forms of fluoride are in fact toxic waste by-products collected in the exhaust chimneys of fertiliser factories. According to the safety sheet of Incitec Pivot (a global producer of fertilisers and explosives based in Geelong Victoria), hydroflurosilicic acid is in fact a schedule 7 poison that is highly toxic to the body and can cause death at low exposures.”
This community must stand against the BV Shire Council’s attempt to degrade our water and waste state taxpayers’ dollars upgrading the local water treatment facilities.
