Peter Ayling said people were lined up at the shed at 7am despite the expo not starting until 8am.
“We had some real bargains here and some good quality items for sale,” Mr Ayling said.
As well as a clearance sale the Men’s Shed also had a free barbecue and morning tea for people to sit down and learn a little bit more about the shed.
The Men’s Shed prides itself on being a safe and busy, no pressure environment with an atmosphere of old-fashioned mateship and a focus on men’s health and well-being.
The wide range of equipment available for both woodworking and metal working enable men to produce items for their own use, for sale and also to support community activities.
But the shed also focuses on men’s health issues, including mental health, and there is a passive recreation area, known as the green room, which is used for quieter pastimes such as a board game, listening to music or just having a chat.
“It’s a venue for men to share their life experiences and make good friends,” Mr Ayling said.
The Merimbula Men’s Shed president, Lindsay Green said it was a good morning with a lot of interest from the public.
The Men’s Shed has about 60 members and the shed, which is located at Manna Park, Red Hill Road, is open on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Saturdays from 9am to 12 noon.
The shed is always looking for donations of usable timber so if anyone has timber or is interested in joining the shed contact Peter Ayling on 0429 061 234.
