“Every child deserves a new toy on Christmas,” store supervisor Carole Davis said.
The Merimbula Salvation Army members hosted a sausage sizzle in front of Merimbula Woolworths to raise money for this year’s Christmas Appeal.
They were also collecting children’s presents to be handed out to those in need.
They are hoping the community will get behind them and ensure that everyone in Merimbula feels the Christmas spirit.
“Everyone has been very generous so far,” Merimbula Family Store supervisor Sue Davidson said.
“We will be collecting toys and gifts right up until Christmas.”
Ms Davidson said she hopes people also think of the older children.
“We provide presents for children up to 14 years old,” she said.
“We always receive plenty of gifts for the younger kids but not so many that are suitable for older children.”
“We want all children to feel special on Christmas, even the older ones.”
Donations can be dropped off at the Merimbula Family Store on Alice Street. Presents do not need to be wrapped. For more information contact the store on 6495 1222.
