He has teamed up with award-winning songbird, Jacki Cooper for their first duo collaboration, showcasing their interpretations of classic sounds and swinging standards.
The Down South Jazz Club is delighted to be included in their tour, and on Thursday, November 19, at Club Sapphire, presents ‘Tea for Two’ featuring George Golla on guitar and Jacki Cooper on vocals. They will be ably supported, in the last set, by Ken Vatcher on drums and Steve Clark on bass.
George Golla is well known to jazz enthusiasts around the country. Since making Australia home in the 1950s the award-winning Polish jazz guitarist has played with all the leading jazz musicians in Australia, most notably forming a famous partnership with Don Burrows that continued for almost 40 years.
He has supported international touring artists in Australia, such as vibraphonist Gary Burton and violinist Stephane Grappelli, and appeared at many festivals, including the Montreux and Newport Jazz Festivals.
Jacki Cooper has been a regular feature on the Australian jazz scene since 1990. Now residing in Sydney with her husband, drummer John Morrison, Jacki teaches jazz voice for the Bachelor of Music program at Central Queensland University’s Conservatorium of Music in Mackay.
