The event was ran by the Global Powerlifting Committee (GPC) and is the largest federation in Australia.
In powerlifting you get three attempts at a maximum squat, bench press and deadlift with your three heaviest lifts combined for a total score.
The team included Darcy Hodson, who was the group’s only female competitor, Dylan Thompson, Max Harris, Ian Childs, Nik Stone and competing coach Dan Dakis.
Dakis said he was thrilled with the effort of his team with Stone competing alongside him in the strong 110kg division.
“The team have been following a custom program through Sapphire Coast Barbell and been making tremendous improvements and gains in strength, technique and physique,” Dakis said.
“I am extremely proud of everyone, they lifted like pros and their results are a testament to how good they train.”
Thompson added significant gains to his personal bests in the squat and deadlift.
His total weight lifts for the competition were 527.5kg across the three lifts.
Meanwhile, Hodson made a near 30 per cent improvement in her squat lift from the previous competition and a massive 130kg deadlift and scored a top finish.
“She is setting a great example for all the female lifters and and is an example of the great results you can achieve with a solid work ethic and good program,” Dakis said.
Stone made solid increases on his previous results, which included a 232.5kg deadlift and 192.5kg squat.
His overall total of 572.5kg earned him third place in the division, which was a fantastic result.
Meanwhile, Dakis made a 245kg squat and 265kg deadlift, while he benched 180kg.
A total of 690kg across the three styles earned him the gold medal for the day.
“But the most important thing is that everyone had a great day and was able to improve on what they have done previously, and having fun doing it,” Dakis said.
“No matter who you are, what size, shape or age, everyone is welcome.
“Whether your goal is to lose body fat, gain muscle, get stronger, or if you simply want to know how to use correct technique when lifting don't hesitate to get in touch.”
