The Far South Coast Cricket Association A grade season is set to launch on Saturday with three matches.
“We’re certainly looking forward to it, it’s been a long footy season,” MacDonald said with a laugh.
The club’s A grade roster will be a little understrength for the opening rounds as some key players have moved to the Canberra competition.
“We’ve also got a couple overseas, so we won’t be fielding our best team on the track this week unfortunately,” he said.
“We can’t replace the boys we’ve lost.”
Lincoln Petty and last year’s leading run-scorer Dylan Jordan are two of the squad now involved in Canberra competition.
However, there is some exciting players coming in for the squad too with some hopeful new additions to the roster.
We can’t replace the boys we’ve lost (but) there is a couple of young guys that have come up that will likely get a run.

The Knights will continue to be one of the youngest A grade rosters in the contest with some junior players moving through the ranks to the top squad.
“There is a couple of young guys that have come up that will likely get a run,” MacDonald said.
A couple of club veterans have also thrown their hand up to return to the A grade arena and will make a start with the roster on Saturday.
Jacob MacDonald broke his leg last season, but will make a return with the squad, while Wade Edmed is currently overseas and will return later this year.
In other ranks, the club is including a C grade roster full of exciting young talent.
“Most of our kids coming through are a big younger so we want to make sure they go through the right development,” MacDonald said.
He said the B grade contest could knock them around a bit and the club wanted to provide the best opportunities for its developing players.
The Knights will launch their A grade campaign with a round at home against the Eden squad.
The match is set to be played on Saturday at the Berrambool Oval from 1pm.
Club supporters are urged to head along and cheer on the squad in the first game of the season.
