A few blue water anglers made it seaward with marked success.
The three fish out of the bag for the month were bream, won by Dale Evans, morwong, won by Scott Harrington, and pig fish, also won by Harrington.
The blue water winner was Harrington with his morwong and the rock, beach and estuary winner was Sam Chambers with a commendable drummer.
Harrington was also crowned senior cock-o-the walk with this fish.
The junior cock-o-the walk was Tom Cargill with a nice sand flathead of 1.06kg.
“Luck has been a little against us all year with the weather patterns, and I hope this will change for the better for our coming mighty bonanza fishing competition during the long weekend in early October,” club spokesman Neville Aurousseau said.
All prizes unclaimed across the two-day fishing competition will be drawn at the end of weigh in on the Sunday afternoon.
The bonanza has been one of the premier events on the South Coast over the past few decades and attracts coastal and inland anglers.
Juniors share in about half of the prizes and there are many species recognised in the prize pool.
“The sponsors have done us proud again this year even with the current economic problems and we are very thankful for their wonderful support,” he said.
Good luck and good fishing to all.
Remember to keep those rods held high and those lines tight.
