NRMA director Kate Lundy said the forum would be an important opportunity for the Bega Valley community, of which 21 per cent are over the age of 65 and five per cent are over the age of 80.
Previous mobility forums for older members in 2011, identified a number of community concerns including:
* Making public transport more accessible
* Fighting to get more funding for community transport
* Increase parking and drop off zones around major transport, shopping and community hubs; and
* More information from the NSW government about transitioning from driving to alternative transport options
The Merimbula ‘Fit to Drive’ forum is on Tuesday, September 8 from 10am to 12pm at Club Sapphire and will be chaired by NRMA director Kate Lundy and the discussion panel will be led by Adam Berry from Roads and Maritime Services and Robyn Adams from Bega Valley Community Transport Services.
