Mr Constance said this is a transformative project for the people of Eden and the South East.

“We are getting on with it and this is a critical step forward in the project that will see the NSW Department of Primary Industries - Lands managing the delivery of this important community project.

"I am so glad the REF is on exhibition and I am continuing to focus on the wave attenuator project as well.

“As a requirement under Part V of the Environmental Planning and Assessment Act 1979, the Review of Environmental Factors has addressed all environmental matters likely to be affected by the wharf extension project.” Mr Constance said.

Environmental factors include water quality, sea conditions (waves and tides), climate change, flora and fauna communities, dredging and sediment quality, traffic management, port operations, air quality and the acoustic environment.

A specialist marine environment consultant was engaged to ensure that all investigations were completed using current best practise methods and to the fullest extent possible.

The $15 million Breakwater Wharf Extension project is important for Eden as it will increase economic activity during the construction phase and support increased visitation of cruise vessels once completed in 2017.
