The NSW Crown Holiday Parks Trust (CHPT) will be looking at ways to modernise Pambula Town Caravan Park and increase visitor numbers after taking over management of the park this month, it has said.

NSW CHPT CEO, Steve Edmonds said the Trust took over the management of Pambula Town Caravan Park from 1 August and was looking forward to making further improvements over the coming year.
“The Trust is initially looking at making some minor improvements to attract more tourists to the park which will in turn help to increase spending in the town of Pambula.
“We are also looking forward to working with key stakeholders such as park residents, Rotary, affiliated sports groups and the Bega Valley Shire Council to determine the best outcomes for the future of the park.”
At a recent council meeting, the caravan park and its associated land was discussed.
Councillor Russell Fitzpatrick said: “We have talked about affordable housing for some time and I believe we should start to do something.
“This site and the extra land lends itself to being developed for affordable housing. It could be modelled on Acacia Ponds but for young people,” Cr Fitzpatrick said.
General manager, Leanne Barnes said it was one of the items that had been raised by council with the trust.
Cr Fitzpatrick said that there had been some initial and preliminary discussions with members of the Social Justice Advocates of the Sapphire Coast as well. The group has been closely involved in housing those in desperate need and had welcomed the start of the crisis shelter at Merimbula’s Anglican church but has always maintained that longer-term housing is needed too.
