As one of Australia’s most iconic charities, Legacy grew out of the ashes of the Great War and still supports around 90,000 families of defence personnel who have given their lives or their health for their country.
In our area, Legacy cares for 135 widows of deceased ex-servicemen and the Chairman of Far South Coast Legacy, Geoff Dove, is urging members of the public to make a donation or purchase an item of Legacy merchandise. He emphasised that all funds raised locally, will be used to support local widows. Volunteer sellers will be operating in Eden, Pambula Beach, Merimbula and Tura Beach on Thursday, September 3 and Friday, September 4.
This year’s merchandise includes the traditional badges, pens and wristbands and the popular range of Navy, Army and Air Force bears will be complemented by the addition of a nurse bear and a special WWI bear.
