There are plenty of laughs as three of Hollywood’s greats work their way through crazy scenarios, impending financial doom and a case of bananas, during a five-day writing storm.
As a prelude to the play, over 90 people attended a showing of the original movie recently at The Picture Show Man Cinema. Members of the Spectrum cast spoke prior to the screening, with each actor explaining their character roles as producer, secretary, director and writer in the epic’s frantic Hollywood team.
“Moonlight & Magnolias” is a play not to be missed. This highly acclaimed work by playwright Ron Hutchinson has received global accolades and Spectrum is working excitedly towards their red-carpet cabaret-style opening night on August 29 ($26). Hollywood glam is the theme and it’s hoped that theatre-goers will dress to impress for this special event. A special theatre-style matinee will also be held on opening weekend, on Sunday August 30 (2pm, $23).
The Moonlight & Magnolias season, with cabaret table seating, will then run for four more nights - Fridays and Saturdays September 4, 5, 11 and 12 in Twyford Hall Merimbula at 7.30pm. Book online at www.spectrumtheatregroup.com.au or call 0466 096 217.
