His latest album was recorded live near Cobargo between breaks for whiskey, bad jokes and serious reflection.
Self-titled Den Hanrahan and the Rum Runners, the album features bass-playing prodigy Matt Nightingale, multi-instrumentalist Dave O’Neill on fiddle and mandolin and Irish accordion player Peter Logue, who still thinks the instrument is sexy.
His songs bring a freshness and excitement which ranges from rockers like Cocaine Heart and Whiskey in My Brain, the Cajun fiddle-driven Anything You Desire and the tenderness of Don’t Hold It In.
Hanrahan will be appearing with his backing band, the Rum Runners at Towamba Hall from 7pm on Saturday August 29, $20 at the door. Supper available at a small cost.
