The club opened its gates to a large crowd for the Eden Cup on Sunday, August 9.
The day featured seven races and one of the highlights was race 3, The Disability Trust and WorkAbility Maiden Plate which raised money for WorkAbility’s Our Story Our Place project and was won by four-year-old gelding Redondo Rock.
Our Story Our Place aims to help people with a disability tell their story through music or art and was instigated in Bega about two years ago.
The Disability Trust’s chief executive officer Margaret Bowen said they raised approximately $2,000 which will go towards purchasing art and music equipment.
“It was a wonderful opportunity to promote The Disability Trust and WorkAbility within the community,” Mrs Bowen said. “We are really happy with the amount of money we raised and look forward to coming back again next year.”
“Our Story Our Place is a great project that our clients really enjoy so the money will go to good use.”
As part of the project, musician Ricky Bloomfield helps WorkAbility’s clients play covers of songs, and artist Annie Franklin helps the clients with their artworks.
