Essential Energy received reports around 9.30am that the vehicle had made contact with a power pole on Merimbula Drive, near the intersection with Reid Street.
Essential Energy regional manager South Eastern, Phillip Green said: “Crews from Bega Depot were quickly despatched to isolate the power supply, ensure the safety of the area and begin repairs to the electricity distribution network.
“The unplanned power supply interruption affected about 170 customers in Merimbula Drive, Illawong Heights, Kowara Crescent and Kalinda Street. Crews replaced the damaged power pole and restored power to customers shortly after 1pm.”
The Sapphire Clinic was forced to close while the power was out but practice manager Peter Cumming said he was very impressed with Essential Energy’s quick response and said that they “did a fantastic job”.
