The fact that Tom Griffin and his amateur psychologist sidekick have resorted to argumentum ad hominem (MNW 22/7) is not unexpected and true to type. I would have appreciated it, though, if a more imaginative “disorder” had been invented to bestow upon me! LOL.

Anyway, let me return to the core question at the centre of this “conversation” – to use the phrase beloved of “ten flags Tony” and his merry cohorts. Is the ABC biased?
The annual ABC Appreciation Survey, carried out since 1998 by Newspoll - a company not noted for left wing tendencies – has consistently shown that the overwhelming majority of respondents (around 80 per cent) believe that the ABC is balanced and even handed.
On the other hand a study by Gans and Leigh reported in the March, 2012 edition of The Economic Record, concluded that the ABC Channel 2 news showed a slight right wing bias towards the Coalition.
I have observed this bias on occasions but have never felt the need to write letters of complaint to the managing director of the ABC.
I can handle it!
I now take the advice often attributed to Mark Twain – “Never argue with idiots; they’ll drag you down to their level and beat you with experience” – and leave this “conversation”.
