It is with some degree of reticence I reply to Kevin Walsh's letter of July 15 as I generally don't make a habit of continuing to argue with an unseasoned fence post.

However I feel it would be remiss of me not to address salient points of Mr Walsh's convoluted diatribe. He failed miserably to address the very essence of my letter pertaining to the left wing bias of the ABC and the well documented fact, the ABC management and its high profile presenters, past and present hold a self confessed allegiance to the Labor Party.
To name just a few: Mark Scott, Maxine McKew, Kerry O'Brien, Barrie Cassidy, Tony Jones, Leigh Sales,Chris Ulhman, Virginia Triolli, Emma Alberici, Fran Kelly, Paul Barry.
It is hardly surprising Mr Walsh was unable to find among his centre of influence anyone who would agree the ABC is a taxpayer funded left wing organisation. With his one eyed point of view I am sure it would difficult for him to strike up a friendship with those of the centre of politics
By bringing Mr Abbott's so-called "budgie smugglers" into the equation Mr Walsh has reinforced my implication that the media is more interested in the PM's clothing than they are of the real issues. Mr Walsh should be reminded, Mr Abbott's red Speedos are part of his Surf Life Saving Club's uniform, as is the yellow colour of his fire fighting uniform. I am sure it would be a sight to behold to see Mr Shorten in Speedos, red or blue, or to see him helping the community as a volunteer fire fighter.
I have never suggested the ABC should not be a forum for free speech, however I do agree with the management that they made a grave error of judgement regarding the said Q & A program. All I am asking for is balance from our national broadcaster.
Mr Walsh says that “the ABC is one of the last remaining bastions of free ideas , speech and thought in Australia".
Perhaps he should reflect on the fact, the Fairfax media see fit to publish our letters.
If Mr Walsh believes our democracy to be "irksome and archaic" perhaps he should consider joining his red flag waving comrades in North Korea.
