The Melbourne resident was in Bendigo this week to attend the Homes For Change event on Thursday and to hear a talk on the tiny homes movement.
Mr Florence's trailer home is 2.2m by 2.8m and only partially built, but is well on the way to becoming his dream home.
"Everyone has specific needs and for me it's important to be comfortable, so we've created a space on this which is comfortable for our living needs."
He said he was initially inspired to build a tiny home after seeing a friend who was into tiny houses and realising he wanted a more simplistic life and to gain financial freedom. "It just seemed really perfect for me," he said.
"I live really simplistically, I don't have many possessions, I don't want to gain possessions."
He said home to him was about being comfortable.
"I don't want to live in a tent, I don't want to live in a caravan but I want to own a home that is relatively affordable and comfortable," he said. Mr Florence said he had been working on the tiny home with the help of his brother Scott Florence, a Bendigo-based builder, for about two months.
But he said he and his girlfriend Beatrice had been designing the tiny home for a lot longer because they wanted to make sure the home would have everything they needed.
"Everyone has specific needs and for me it's important to be comfortable, so we've created a space on this which is comfortable for our living needs," he said.
"Both of us do yoga on an almost daily basis, so it was important for us to have a space where we could both do yoga. "So we spent a long time designing it and figuring out regulations for the trailer."
Mr Florence said he brought along his tiny home to the Homes For Change event as a way of educating others, and also to pick up a few things to takeaway himself. He said people had all sorts of questions about the home - how big can it be, how big is the trailer, how tall can it be.
"I guess I want to meet people and gain more information, network with a few more people," he said. "And that's why I came here I thought maybe I can meet someone, maybe they can help me. "It's difficult for someone who's not a builder to figure out how things work."
