As the Brisbane City Council unveiled its newest CityCat, decorated in the Firebirds' honour, Geitz fronted a large media contingent and spoke with a steely focus about their looming finals campaign.

The Australian conference-topping side will play either the surging NSW Swifts or the West Coast Fever in the Australian Conference final at the 7000-capacity Brisbane Entertainment Centre, as they aim for an 11th straight win and a spot in the ANZ Championship grand final.

Queensland won't know its opposition until after Friday night's elimination final between the Swifts and Fever but Geitz said that was irrelevant.

In their dominant run, the Firebirds' only loss was against the Fever, while they drew against the Swifts, though Queensland won against both teams the second time they faced them.

With the newly established conference system, the Aussie teams will have the toughest run to the championship.

Under the old system, just one New Zealand side would have qualified for the finals but Geitz said they wouldn't be taken any trans-Tasman games lightly.

"The Kiwis always seem to produce the results in the finals," she said.

"We just go about our business. We've got a really hard game on Sunday, and we want to be match hardened heading into the final, if we get through.

"Finals netball is totally different to rounds netball and everyone rises to the occasion."
