After finally winning the series after an eight year drought the NSW Blues are looking to show the QLD Maroons that last year wasn’t a fluke, that they too can hold on to the Shield.
If you’re keen to get out of the house and want to watch the mighty Blues destroy the Maroons in a fun atmosphere, then why not support the Blues (or the Maroons if they are your team) at one of our great local venues?
Here’s a list that we comprised of the best places to watch the game.
Royal Willows Hotel, Pambula
Willows is going all out for Origin game one. They are decorating the place with blue streamers and balloons, they will have all the fires going and all TVs will be showing the game. On top of this they will also be giving out a $25 gift voucher for the best dressed blues fan as well as a $50 gift voucher for whoever has the closest guess as to the final score.
“We are just trying to build a really good atmosphere,” Willows owner Kel Stolzy said. “If someone has come in with dyed blue hair or has just gone to a bit of trouble to be involved in the evening then they will win the best dressed.
“We just want to create a nice family atmosphere so everyone can come down and really enjoy the game and of course barrack for the blues.”
Willows will also be providing free hot bar snacks which will consist of “party food and whatever the chef can rustle up.”
Merimbula RSL
Merimbula RSL will be playing the game on their big screens and will have three NSW hoodies to give away. Simply turn up to the RSL to watch the game and buy a VB and you will be in the running to win the highly sought after jumpers. The winners will be drawn at halftime so get down there early and remember, you gotta be in it to win it.
