Bega Valley Regional Gallery’s Helena Bezzina said that Holden and Senior both worked on the film which paints a picture of changing attitudes towards war and conflict.
“The story concerns a corps of Australian elite soldiers, the Special Air Service troops and the elite group's more pragmatic and hopeful attitudes whiling away the time in mindless diversions and cracking jokes.
“Then one of their own is killed and their feelings about the war suddenly change,” she said.
“A Q&A session with Frankie J Holden, Anna Senior and film critic Simon Weaving will provide insight into the challenges of filming a wartime picture.
“It’s a film widely viewed as a cathartic Australian answer to Michael Cimino's The Deer Hunter, which is held as one of the most fascinating films of the Vietnam war and the human condition.
“The screening of The Odd Angry Shot is in association with the Regional Gallery’s current Shaun Gladwell exhibition, Portraits from Afghanistan, and, like Shaun, film producer Tom Jeffrey said his intention was to show how the people survived in a wartime environment.
“You will get a lively Q&A session, a film and a delicious supper with a glass of wine all for $20 for guests or $15 for Friends of the BVRG members,” Ms Bezzina said.
