Works in preparation for the construction of a roundabout at the junction of Sapphire Coast Drive, Merimbula Drive and Reid Street will start on Monday, September 8 and are expected to take 10 weeks, the Bega Valley Shire Council has advised.
The works involve moving of major above ground and underground services in the area.
“Telstra has relocated and upgraded their optical fibre underground services, a contractor has been engaged to relocate the overhead power lines and the advertised work is to relocate and upgrade the water and sewer mains,” Civil Assets and Development manager, Graeme Williams said.
However start and end dates for the roundabout construction are at this stage subject to how this preliminary work proceeds.
The works will be carried out from Monday to Friday between the hours of 6am and 6pm.
The council has advised that full street closures will at times be required, with access to closed streets remaining for local residents.
Residents will be notified in advance of any water or sewage interruptions and advice on temporary alternatives will be given.
Council apologises for any inconvenience caused by the work.
