Mayor, Bill Taylor was there to welcome a total of 11 new Australians living locally in the shire, “Presenting citizenship certificates and a welcoming handshake in front of the family and friends of our newest Australians is always a proud moment,” he said.
“I congratulate the Bega Valley Shire’s newest Australian citizens, and on behalf of the local community I wish them well as they start new chapters in their lives.
“Australian citizenship is something to be respected, valued and celebrated, and it goes without saying that it comes with great responsibility because choosing to become an Australian citizen is an important expression of loyalty and commitment to our country.
As Australians we have so much to appreciate and enjoy, and I can think of no better place to start your life as a citizen than in the Bega Valley Shire,” Cr Taylor said.
