President, Sharon Tapscott is urging everyone interested in maintaining Pambula as a working hospital to come along to the next SOHI meeting, on Thursday, April 17 at 6pm in the Garden Room, Pambula Merimbula Golf Club.
“We are really looking to broaden our base,” Mrs Tapscott said.
A member of the previous and now the latest Pambula Hospital Committee, Mrs Tapscott has concerns for the future of the hospital.
The Local Health District has produced a future options discussion paper for the hospital which looks at models such as Multipurpose Service, NSW HealthOne or an Express Community Care Clinic.
The committee has been tasked with the job of identifying the role of Pambula hospital post 2016 when the new regional hospital opens.
The problem for the committee is to find a model that is acceptable to both the community and the LHD.
If no workable decision is reached, or if the community is seen to be ambivalent, it is unclear in what form Pambula hospital will continue post 2016.
