Rob Weinert has tied Matt Giles with a round of five-under-par at Tura Beach Country Club to claim his first professional victory at the Bega Cheese Pro-Am on Thursday.

Weinert and Giles played their heart out on a favourite course among Far South Coast players, and in doing so held off four players including local professional and Queanbeyan Pro-Am winner Larry Austin and Victorian Chris Gaunt.
“It's my first year out on the circuit now after finishing my traineeship last year so Im pumped to get this win under my belt so soon," Weinert said.
The $30,000 Bega Cheese Pro-Am formed part of the NSW/ACT Pro-Am circuit and was well-contested last week.
The defending champion and recent New Zealand Open winner, Dimi Papadatos could only manage a two-over-par 75, but said it was great to get back to where he captured his first big win.
“Last week was obviously amazing and it was right here at Tura Beach Country Club where I kickstarted a great year,” Papadatos said.
“The locals really came out and supported me out there and it’s such a great event that Bega Cheese run here so I'm happy to return.”
A Canberra professional in Matt Millar proved that his local course knowledge was invaluable during the Pro-Am tour, with several top results, none more impressive than his gritty win at the Commonwealth Motors Queanbeyan Pro-Am where he tied Tura Beach’s Larry Austin.
Trainee Professional Simon Hawkes was also a first time winner during the series with a win at the Goulburn Soldiers Club Pro-Am.
