A calm, organised, staggered approach was taken for students beginning school at Lumen Christi Catholic College in 2014. Wednesday, January 29 was the first day for Year 7s and senior students, with Year 8, 9 and 10 students commencing on Thursday, January 30.

On Wednesday, senior students took their roles seriously as they assisted the Year 7 newbies with timetables, lockers, directions and advice.
Some Year 7 students seemed totally in their element and eager to begin their secondary schooling experience, while many others appeared overwhelmed as they were thrown in at the deep end. The most difficult adjustment from primary to secondary is usually the constant movement around the school and becoming familiar with different classrooms and numerous teachers.
Thursday was an exciting day as it was the first day for K-6 students who appeared to adjust to the unfamiliar environment extremely well. The first official whole school assembly took place on Friday afternoon, where new principal, Steve Centra engaged students with an inspirational speech and slideshow.
New building work is expected to start this year which will provide another classroom for the junior facility. The work is expected to be completed in time for the start of the 2015 school year.
