Merimbula Police were disappointed with the behaviour of some locals and tourists as Police were kept busy over the weekend with what Police describe as “a number of intoxicated and disorderly buffoons”.

Merimbula Sergeant Cliff Scarlett said that police responded to the boorish behaviour in line with the New South Wales Police Force's stance on zero tolerance for alcohol fuelled anti- social behaviour.
In addition to the normal uniform presence in town, officers in plainclothes were also on the beat.
At 1am on January 19 on Merimbula Drive police detected two local males aged 22 and 20 smashing bottles ($375 fine) on to the road. They will also receive infringements for offensive language ($300 fine).
At 1.45am Police also detected a 24-year-old Bega male urinating in Market Street. He was fined $300 for offensive behaviour and given a move on direction to leave the area. At 3am he was still in the Merimbula CBD where he was issued a further fine of $220 for failing to comply with the previous direction.
A 31-year-old Nethercote male received a $550 fine for failing to leave the Royal Willows Hotel, Pambula at 11.35pm on Saturday, January 18.
A 27-year-old Pambula male received a $300 fine for urinating on Market Street at 4am Sunday morning, January 19. He will also be receiving infringements ($236) for obstructing traffic for lying on the road at 3.20am and failing to comply with the previous direction ($220).
A 21-year-old male and three 20-year-old males from Victoria were issued with $220 fines for failing to comply with move on directions for intoxication at 2am on Main Street Merimbula one of the males was also issued an infringement for offensive language $200.
At 2am a 46-year-old local male was issued a $200 fine for offensive language on Market Street. This male again came under notice at 2.40am on Main Street, Merimbula where he was issued a $300 fine for offensive behaviour. He was also issued a move on direction to leave the area immediately.
A 46-year-old Tura Beach male will face Bega Court next month after being charged with assault occasioning actual bodily harm after a dispute with a neighbour got out of hand. The victim, an 18-year-old former resident, received a black eye and swelling.
A 28 day noise abatement direction was issued to a unit in Wonga Street at 1am on January 15.
A 43-year-old local male was issued an infringement for consuming alcohol whilst driving a motor vehicle at 3.30pm on January 14.
A 27-year-old Millingandi male was arrested on morning of Friday, January 17. The male had been wanted for a common assault at Nowra on January 11, 2014 and a breach of a protection order and assault at Millingandi on December 12, 2013. He was formally refused bail at Batemans Bay Local Court and will face court again next month.
At 10pm on January 18 a 17-year-old local male was detected with alcohol in Quondolo Street, Pambula, his parents were contacted and he will receive an infringement.
A 31-year-old local male was arrested at 9pm on January 18 on Arthur Kaine Drive Merimbula for low range PCA returning a reading of .079. He will face Bega Court next month.
